Al-Jumu'ah الجمعة
Madani · 11 ayat · 11 with pondering
- Ayah 1Before the Friday surah mentions prayer or trade, it shows you a congregation already at worship: everything in the heavens and the earth.
- Ayah 2A man who never read a book was sent to a people without one, and he recited, purified and taught them into a new people.
- Ayah 3You are in this ayah: one of the others who had not yet caught up, expected while the surah was still coming down.
- Ayah 4Guidance, a Messenger and a place among his people are not wages but overflow, from the One beside whose bounty every other gift looks small.
- Ayah 5A donkey can carry a library and feel only its weight; the ayah asks whether your Book has ever been allowed to open you.
- Ayah 6Anyone who claims to be Allah's chosen friend can be tested with one question: are you glad to meet Him?
- Ayah 7People do not dread meeting someone they have prepared for; the dread comes from what their own hands sent ahead, and Allah knows every item.
- Ayah 8Every road taken to escape death leads towards it, and beyond it waits the One who knows both your hidden and your public life.
- Ayah 9When the call sounds, leave the deal half-made and go with purpose to the remembrance of Allah; it is better for you than any sale.
- Ayah 10The same prayer that stopped your trade now sends you back into it, carrying the remembrance of Allah out into the street.
- Ayah 11A caravan arrived with drums and food, and the congregation ran to it; the surah ends by naming the One whose provision never arrives late.
