Al-Munafiqun 63:9
“O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allāh. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.”

Essence
The very things you would never call a diversion, those you love and the life you have built, are named here as the channel through which remembrance quietly goes missing.
A reflection
The surah turns and looks at you
For eight ayat this surah has spoken entirely in the third person. They say, they testify, they turn their heads, humu l-ʿaduwwu, they are the enemy. The believer reading along has had a clear, comfortable seat: an observer watching a portrait of someone else's failure being painted in careful, damning detail. This ayah ends that seat abruptly. Yā ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū, O you who have believed, the address turns directly onto the reader for the first time in the whole surah, and the subject of the sentence is no longer a named historical faction at all. It is amwālukum, your wealth, and awlādukum, your children.
This kind of sudden turn from describing them to addressing you is not incidental to how the surah is built. A reader who has spent eight ayat quietly relieved not to be the hypocrite being described is handed, in the very next breath, a warning that uses the same word for failure, al-khāsirūn, aimed squarely at themselves. Nifaq, this surah has just finished showing in exhaustive detail, begins with small, repeated choices that gradually widen into a settled state. This ayah warns that an entirely different route, no false testimony required, no sworn oath, nothing that looks anything like the faction just described, can arrive at a loss carrying the identical name.
The structure itself is the lesson before a single word of content has been read: do not assume the previous eight ayat were someone else's story merely because nothing in your own life resembles Ibn Ubayy's scheme. The turn in address is the surah's way of saying, now, we are talking about you.
