Al-Haqqah 69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
“And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.”
Saheeh International
Essence
This is named, precisely, as truth at the exact degree of certainty where every last trace of doubt has already drained completely away.
A reflection
The highest of three named ranks
The commentators read ḥaqqu al-yaqīn as a construct placing a thing beside its own quality, naming the truth here as certainty's own truth, its most complete and undiluted form. One classical scholar's extended reflection on this phrase traces three ranks of certainty the Quran itself names across different ayat: ʿilm al-yaqīn, full conviction reached through a trustworthy report, with no doubt or suspicion left able to touch it; and ʿayn al-yaqīn, the further rank of actually seeing a thing directly, named explicitly where the Quran describes people who will see the Fire with their own eyes, not merely be told of it (102:5-7).
This ayah names the Quran's own content, after everything argued across the previous ayat, at the highest of these named ranks: not a probable report, not even only a matter settled through reliable hearing, but ḥaqq al-yaqīn itself, truth at the point where doubt has nowhere left to stand.
That is an extraordinary claim to make about words delivered through a human voice to people who had not personally witnessed any of what those words described. The weight of the claim rests entirely on everything the surah has built up to this point: the witness of all creation, seen and unseen, called in 69:38-39; the accusations answered in 69:41-42; the total, detailed stakes of fabrication laid out in 69:44-47. By the time this ayah arrives, it is not asking to be trusted on its own say-so alone. It is stating the conclusion a careful reader has, by this point, already been led to examine for themselves.
