Al-Ma'arij 70:39
كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ

Essence
No claim to paradise survives this reminder: every one of them, mocker and mocked alike, was precisely created from the exact same lowly fluid.
A reflection
Measured and made, from almost nothing
The root behind this word for creating carries a specific sense the lexicons preserve carefully: measuring something precisely, then bringing it into being according to that exact measure, the way a hide is sized and cut before it is shaped into something useful. Creation, in this picture, is never careless. It is deliberate, exact, measured before it is made.
That precision is aimed, in this ayah, at material about as humble as anything could be: a disdained fluid, as the surrounding commentary makes plain, the kind of origin nobody would ever boast about on its own merits. The contrast is the entire point. Everything any person is, their standing, their confidence, their claim to deserve something good, traces back to a beginning this unremarkable, shaped into being by a precision that belonged entirely to the One doing the shaping and not at all to the raw material itself.
This should shrink rather than inflate anyone's sense of their own importance. A mocking crowd confident enough to expect paradise by right, on the strength of status or lineage, is being reminded that the very existence they are standing on to make that claim was never their own achievement in the first place. Every ounce of self-importance resting on birth or background rests, when traced back far enough, on something this plain and this entirely undeserved.
There is, at the same time, something quietly steadying rather than merely deflating in this same fact. If worth were simply inherited through noble material, anyone starting from a humble origin would be permanently disqualified from real significance. Because worth instead comes entirely from the precision of the One doing the measuring and making, the humblest possible starting point carries no ceiling on what can be made from it, which is itself a kind of mercy folded inside what first reads as a rebuke.
