Al-Mursalat 77:45

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

“Woe, that Day, to the deniers.”

Saheeh International

Essence

The eighth "woe that Day to the deniers" — the first to follow the reward rather than precede it, so the loss finally has a face measured against.

A reflection

The first refrain to follow good news instead of bad

This exact line was first met at 77:15, and its full treatment lives there. Each return closes a different case; this is the eighth, and it marks a genuine change in what the refrain has been following. Every earlier occurrence closed a scene about the deniers themselves — evidence, punishment, silence, challenge. This one closes the surah's first full description of the reward: shade, springs, fruit, an invitation to eat and drink without cost, a reward tied to real excellence.

That change matters for how the warning lands here. Earlier, "woe" answered more proof that denial was foolish. Here, it answers a direct, specific picture of exactly what was missed — not an abstract loss, but this particular shade, these particular springs, this particular welcome, now withheld from the very people who have just watched it described. The weight of the refrain has not grown heavier here through louder language. It has grown heavier through contrast, which tends to cut deeper than repetition ever could on its own.
