Al-Qasas 28:32
“Insert your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white, without disease. And draw in your arm close to you [as prevention] from fear, for those are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his establishment. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient."”

Essence
A hand drawn into the robe comes out shining, an arm drawn in steadies fear: two proofs for Pharaoh and his chiefs.
A reflection
A frightened bird spreads its wings
Wa-ḍmum ilayka janāḥaka mina al-rahb: draw your wing in to you, against fear. One classical commentator explains the image from the life of birds. A bird that is frightened spreads its wings and lets them hang loose. A bird at ease keeps them folded close and tucked in. So 'draw in your wing' means: gather yourself. Hold yourself together. Do not let fear spread you out.
The same commentator gives a second, more physical reading. When the staff became a snake, Musa threw up his hand to shield himself, as a startled person does. He was told, in effect: a raised, shielding hand is a poor posture before enemies. Instead, tuck your hand under your arm, and bring it out shining. One movement removes the look of panic and displays a sign.
Both readings point to the same quality: composure that others can see. A young cabin crew member on her first long-haul flight hits severe turbulence. Trays slide, a child screams, an overhead locker springs open. Her stomach is in her throat. But she keeps her arms close, her steps short, her voice low and even. Half the cabin is watching her face to decide how frightened to be. Her drawn-in wings become their calm.
This is not the same as feeling nothing. In the very next ayah Musa will say plainly: I fear they will kill me (28:33). Composure and honesty sit side by side in him. He gathers himself in front of Pharaoh, and pours out his fear to his Lord.
That is a pattern worth copying. In front of those who would exploit your fear, draw in your wings. In front of the One who already knows it, spread out everything.
