Ad-Dukhan 44:6
رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
“As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing,”
Saheeh International
Essence
The whole sending is named a mercy from your Lord, who hears the needs people voice and knows the ones they never say.
A reflection
Heard when spoken, known when not
One commentator explains why these two names close this ayah. People in need either voice their needs or they do not. If they speak, He hears. If they stay silent, He knows. So the mercy that comes down fits the need exactly, whether or not it was ever put into words.
Picture a mother waking at three in the morning. Her toddler is asleep against her, and the small cheek is too hot. The child has said nothing. She cannot yet say 'I feel ill'. The mother is already up, finding the medicine.
The ego dislikes needing anyone. Many people carry their troubles in silence out of pride, as if unspoken need were invisible need. This ayah gently ends that pretence. Nothing unspoken is unknown to Him. And the knowing is not surveillance; it is the reason the mercy arrives fitted to the need.
This is not a God who wants to be flattered before He helps. He hears the plea, and He knows the need behind the silence.
