Al-Kahf 18:72
قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًا
“[Al-Khiḍr] said, "Did I not say that with me you would never be able to have patience?"”

Essence
He says the same sentence again, word for word, and adds nothing to it at all.
A reflection
Nothing has been added
Read as a jibe, this verse is small. The man was right and now he is enjoying it.
Put the two sentences side by side and the reading collapses.
Five verses earlier: indeed you will not be able to have patience with me. Here: did I not say you would not be able to have patience with me.
Identical. One word of framing in front of it, and not one new charge behind it.
No reference to the kindness of the crew. No comment on how quickly it happened. No remark about the promise made two verses ago, which would have been the obvious move and was available to him.
And it is a question, which hands the answer to Musa rather than delivering it.
This is harder than it looks, and most people have never done it. When you turn out to have been right, the temptation is not to gloat. Gloating is crude and easy to resist. The temptation is to expand. To explain why you knew, to connect it to the last three times, to make the point properly now that it can be proved.
There is a mother who has repeated one house rule in the same seven words for fifteen years. No variation, no escalation, no sermon attached. Her children can say it in her voice, and two of them now say it to their own.
The constancy is what made it portable.
So the restraint here is not politeness. It is a method. A warning that has been given once and is then repeated without alteration stays a warning.
The same warning with new material bolted on becomes an argument, and an argument can be answered.
