Al-Baqarah 2:169
إِنَّمَا يَأْمُرُكُم بِٱلسُّوٓءِ وَٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَأَن تَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
“He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about Allāh what you do not know.”

Essence
Satan's whole programme fits in one line: what ends in sorrow, what is ugly, and speaking for Allah without knowledge.
A reflection
Speaking for God without knowing
At a family dinner, an uncle hears that a cousin's young wife has been diagnosed with a serious illness. He nods gravely. 'Allah is testing them for something,' he says. 'Perhaps they were not praying.' No one at the table knows anything of the kind. Neither does he.
The ayah puts this kind of speech in startling company. Satan commands three things: what is evil, what is shameful, 'and that you say about Allah what you do not know'. Speaking for God without knowledge sits right beside immorality.
The first audience did it about food. They declared that Allah had forbidden certain animals, and He had not. An early commentator links it to another ayah: 'Allah did not appoint any such animals; but those who disbelieve invent lies about Allah' (5:103). A translator's note gives the core of it: falsely claiming that Allah made one thing lawful and another unlawful.
A modern commentary widens it. It includes anything said about Allah, in belief or in law, without knowledge that came from Him or His messengers. A linguist adds anything attributed to Allah that does not befit Him.
That covers a lot of everyday talk. One person says God wants you to be rich. Another says this happened because of your sins. A third says Allah would never forgive that, or that He doesn't mind small things. Each sounds confident. Each speaks in Allah's name.
The cure is simple and humbling. Say less about what Allah thinks than about what He has said. And keep three words ready: 'Allah knows best'. There is no shame in them. The shame is in pretending to know.
