Al-Qasas 28:12
“And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before,[1096] so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?"”

Essence
Allah closed every breast to the baby but one, and his sister offered the palace a household that would care for him sincerely.
A reflection
A king's household outmatched by a baby's mouth
Picture the best-supplied nursery in the land. Pharaoh's household had wealth and servants, and the commentators report a stream of wet-nurses brought to the baby. One early report says the women were eager, hoping for a place at court. He turned from every one of them. One narration says he cried for days.
Wa-ḥarramnā ʿalayhi al-marāḍiʿa: We had barred the wet-nurses from him. Allah speaks in the first person. The man who claimed to be lord of Egypt could order the death of thousands. He could not make one infant swallow.
Modern parents know a gentler version. A couple has every gadget: a bottle-warmer with an app, three kinds of teat, a feeding chart on the fridge. Their baby still clamps its mouth shut and screams. Every expert tip fails. They learn what anyone with a newborn learns: the most basic act of life is not under your control.
That is where the ayah takes aim at the ego. We like to think our competence runs the world we live in. Our systems, budgets and plans make things happen. Yet the smallest refusal, placed by Allah in the smallest mouth, stalled the mightiest household on earth. Pharaoh's treasury bought nothing that week.
One commentator lists ways it might have worked. Allah may have placed an aversion in the baby, or a taste in the other women's milk he could not bear. Or he may have known the sweetness of his own mother's milk already. The ayah does not choose. It only says We.
Allah needs nothing from our applause. He does not display His power to impress us. He shows it so that we stop overrating our own. The next time a careful arrangement of yours stalls on something tiny, you may be watching the same hand at work.
