Ar-Rum 30:34

لِيَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ ۚ فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

“So that they will deny what We have granted them.[1148] Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know.”

Essence

The line met at 16:55 returns, now spoken straight to the rescued who drifted back: enjoy it, then, and you will come to know.

A reflection

Why this time He speaks to you directly

This sentence appears word for word at 16:55, and its fuller treatment lives there. A near twin stands at 29:66, with one change that matters here.

At 29:66 the line stays in the third person: 'and so that they may enjoy themselves; they will come to know'. Here it turns to face the listener: 'so enjoy yourselves, you will come to know'.

One classical commentator explains the turn from the context. In al-ʿAnkabut the danger was a single sea voyage. Nobody listening might have been on that ship. Here, in the ayah before, the harm is any harm at all: drought, illness, loss. No room exists without someone rescued from something. So the words can turn and look at whoever is present.

That includes the reader. Think of the scare that passed last year, the prayer you made then, and what became of it.
