“They will call therein for every [kind of] fruit - safe and secure.”

Essence
In the Garden the mindful call for every kind of fruit, and they eat in safety: nothing runs out, nothing harms.
A reflection
Every call answered
Yadʿūna fīhā bi-kulli fākihatin āminīn: they call therein for every kind of fruit, secure.
The verb is yadʿūna, from the root of duʿāʾ. The lexicons say it is drawing something towards you with your voice. When milking, the Arabs left a little in the udder, the dāʿiya, to call the next milk down. Duʿāʾ is not a list. It is a voice reaching out to draw near.
The concise commentaries describe what happens in the Garden. They call for whatever fruit they desire, and it is brought. One adds that they call their servants, who bring them every fruit they want.
In the Garden, every call is answered at once.
In this life it is not so simple. Allah promises: call on Me, I will answer you (40:60). And: I am near, I answer the call of the caller when he calls on Me (2:186). Yet many of us have called for years and seen nothing change.
A woman has prayed every night for twelve years that her son, who left home in anger, will come back. Some nights she is full of hope. Some nights she is just tired. She keeps praying anyway.
Sahih al-Bukhari records a saying that speaks to her. Each of you is answered, as long as he is not hasty and says: I prayed, and I was not answered.
The Garden shows the end of the story: every call met. This life is where the calling is learned, sometimes slowly, sometimes with tears. The calls made here are not wasted. They are part of the voice that will one day ask, and be answered, without delay. Keep calling.
