Al-Muddaththir 74:31
“And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allāh intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allāh send astray whom He wills and guide whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And it [i.e., mention of the Fire] is not but a reminder to humanity.”

Essence
The same small number unravels one heart and steadies another, because none knows the true scale of your Lord's hosts but Him.
A reflection
An army no one has ever counted
Mock the number nineteen if you like, says this ayah, but know what you are mocking. Nineteen is not the size of Allah's army. It is the number of officers placed over one corner of it, the guards of a single fire, while the whole host of what He commands has no number anyone but He has ever reached.
The Prophet ﷺ once told his companions: 'I see what you do not see, and hear what you do not hear. The sky creaks, and rightly so: there is no space of four fingers in it without an angel, his forehead placed down, prostrating to Allah.' He added that if they knew what he knew, they would laugh little and weep much (al-Tirmidhi, who graded it ḥasan gharīb). Every gap the width of a hand, across the whole sky, filled with a bowed head. That is before a single star, a single grain of sand, a single breath taken anywhere on earth is counted among what serves Him.
A new recruit at the bottom of a vast company imagines he has met 'the business' once he has met his own small team of six. He has not glimpsed the organisation chart above him, the shareholders he will never see, the decisions made in rooms he will never enter. Multiply that gap by infinity and you are still short of what separates nineteen named guards from junūd rabbika, the forces of your Lord.
Some ask whether a Being this vast could really want, or need, anything from one small human life. The ayah's own logic answers it: a Lord this un-countable has no need of our worship to be greater, and no need of our rebellion to be threatened. What shrinks, meeting a scale like this, is never Him. It is the part of us that had started to feel important.
That shrinking is a mercy, not a wound. Pride survives by forgetting its true size, measuring itself against the handful of people in the room rather than against anything genuinely vast. Stood next to an army no one has ever finished counting, the loudest self-importance has nowhere left to stand, and the quiet relief of finally being honestly small can begin.
