An-Naml 27:51

فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَـٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

“Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all.”

Saheeh International

Essence

Allah invites us to inspect how the plot ended: the men who planned a night raid on one household lost their whole people.

A reflection

An Author who says: go and look

A researcher finishes a five-year study. Before anyone asks, she publishes every raw number online, every spreadsheet and every failed trial. Anyone in the world can check her work. Only someone completely sure of her results does that.

Fa-nẓur: so look. The ayah does not merely report what happened to the plotters. It turns to the listener and says: inspect it. One commentary explains this as looking with the eye of the heart. Another calls it a look that draws a lesson. A third says the ending came about in a wondrous way, worth thinking over.

Notice who issues the invitation. Human powers rarely say 'go and look'. They curate. They crop the photograph, release the good figures, lose the awkward file. A ruler announces victories and buries the costs. We do the same with our own records. We show people our successes and keep our failures in a drawer.

Allah opens the record and points to it. He has nothing to hide in how He governs His world. The plot, the counter-plan and the outcome are laid out for anyone who cares to look.

That should humble the ego in two ways. First, it exposes how much of our own confidence depends on nobody checking. Second, it shows that the One who rules does not need our approval. He invites inspection because the record is true, not because He wants applause. He is free of all need (35:15). The benefit of the looking is ours.

So look, the ayah says. Not at the headlines of history, but at how each plot actually ended. Then look at your own.
