Saba 34:9
“Then, do they not look at what is before them and what is behind them of the heaven and earth? If We should will, We could cause the earth to swallow them or [could] let fall upon them fragments from the sky. Indeed in that is a sign for every servant turning back [to Allāh].”

Essence
Sky in front, earth behind, held on every side: the One who could open the ground beneath you is able to raise you again.
A reflection
Look in any direction: sky and earth
The deniers have just laughed at the idea of being made new (34:7-8). The reply does not begin with an argument. It begins with an instruction to look. Do they not see what is before them and behind them, of the sky and the earth?
An early commentator spells it out. Look to your right or to your left, in front or behind, and you will see sky and earth. Another adds the consequence. Wherever they go, sky and earth surround them. They cannot pass beyond the edges of either. They are inside the dominion of Allah with no way out.
Picture a fisherman alone in a small boat at night, far from shore. He looks forward: dark water meeting a dark sky. He looks back: the same. Left, right, the same. Above him, more sky than he can take in. The boat that felt so solid on the slipway now looks like a matchbox.
That is the feeling the ayah wants. The deniers spoke as though they were large, judging whether resurrection was possible. The ayah sets them back inside the frame where they actually live: a small creature, held on every side by things he did not make.
This is where the ego shrinks. The pride that mocks the resurrection rests on a sense of independence. Look up and the sense dissolves. The One who made all that surrounds you does not need your approval to raise you again (36:81).
And He does not need your praise either. The ayah does not demand applause for the sky. It asks you to see clearly. The awe is for your benefit, the way a vast view resets a small, anxious mind.
