Makki · 54 ayat · 54 with pondering
- Ayah 1Everything in the heavens and the earth is His, and so is the praise, here and hereafter; we are guests using what He owns.
- Ayah 2He knows everything entering and leaving the earth, everything coming down and climbing up, and that complete knowledge ends in mercy and forgiveness.
- Ayah 3Told the Hour will never come, the Prophet ﷺ swears it will, by a Lord from whom no speck, small or large, is far.
- Ayah 4Here the promise of forgiveness and generous provision becomes the reason the Hour must come: good done and never repaid is still owed.
- Ayah 5Those who worked hard to defeat Allah's signs, sure they could outrun Him, face a punishment whose very name is a shudder.
- Ayah 6Where some scheme against the signs, people given knowledge see the revelation as the truth and a road to the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
- Ayah 7The deniers make the resurrection a joke: shall we show you a man who says that, torn to shreds, you will be made new?
- Ayah 8Liar or madman, the deniers ask; Allah sets both boxes aside and names the real loss: theirs, for refusing the Hereafter.
- Ayah 9Sky in front, earth behind, held on every side: the One who could open the ground beneath you is able to raise you again.
- Ayah 10Allah addressed the mountains by name, softened the hardest metal in one man's hands, and listed his accepted repentance among his favours.
- Ayah 11Dawud was told to make armour to measure and his household to do righteous work, under the gaze of the One who sees everything done.
- Ayah 12Sulayman was given the wind, molten copper and jinn to work for him, yet all of it ran on his Lord's leave.
- Ayah 13After a list of palaces and giant cauldrons, the word is not enjoy but work: gratitude here is something a whole household does.
- Ayah 14The king who commanded wind and jinn died standing, and only a creeping thing chewing his staff told anyone.
- Ayah 15Before any flood, there was a basket filling itself under fruit trees, and one small request: eat, and be grateful.
- Ayah 16They turned their shoulder, the water came through the wall, and the gardens kept their name while losing their sweetness.
- Ayah 17Saba's flood was the very water that had fed their gardens; exact repayment of that kind is kept for whoever keeps covering His gifts.
- Ayah 18Allah spaced Saba's road into safe half-day stages towards the blessed lands, so travel by night or day needed no provisions and held no fear.
- Ayah 19Bored of an easy road, they asked for longer journeys; they got them, were torn apart, and became a story for the patient and grateful.
- Ayah 20Iblis only guessed that people would follow him, and Saba made his guess come true; the believers who refused proved his forecast wrong.
- Ayah 21Iblis was given no power to force anyone, only a voice; the test sorts belief from doubt, and your Lord keeps watch over everything.
- Ayah 22Call on them, the ayah dares: they own not a speck, share in nothing, and Allah needs none of them as His helper.
- Ayah 23No one speaks for anyone before Him without leave; even the angels are stunned at His word, then ask: what did your Lord say?
- Ayah 24Name the One who sends provision from sky and soil; then the gentle fork follows: one side is guided, one is lost.
- Ayah 25Even while calling people from error, the Prophet ﷺ is told to name his own side's faults as crimes and theirs only as deeds.
- Ayah 26Every argument that cannot be settled here will be gathered before one Lord, who opens it with truth and needs no witness to know.
- Ayah 27Bring your partners into the light and set them beside Him: the comparison collapses, and what remains is Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.
- Ayah 28One messenger, sent with good news and warning to every human being without exception, and most of them have not yet understood it.
- Ayah 29Straight after 'most people do not know', the deniers ask for a date, and the question itself shows what they do not know.
- Ayah 30Asked mockingly for a date, the reply gives a fact: your appointment is fixed, and no one can move it by an hour.
- Ayah 31Those who refused every scripture will be held before their Lord, trading blame, and the followers' first words admit the message had reached them.
- Ayah 32The proud deny ever barring anyone from guidance and call their followers criminals, admitting without meaning to that the guidance had come.
- Ayah 33The followers blame their leaders' relentless scheming; both sides swallow their regret on seeing the punishment, and each is repaid only for what it did.
- Ayah 34Every warner met the same first wall: the people whose comfort had taught them that nothing needed to change.
- Ayah 35The pampered read their full tables as a verdict from heaven, and mistook a test for a guarantee of safety.
- Ayah 36Provision is a carpet only He unrolls and a measure only He sets; reading it as His verdict on you is the commonest human mistake.
- Ayah 37Nothing you own carries you nearer to Allah; faith and good deeds do, and they lead to high rooms where fear finally ends.
- Ayah 38Those who pour their effort into defeating Allah's signs, sure they can outrun Him, will be brought into the very punishment they raced away from.
- Ayah 39The same Lord widens and narrows each servant's provision in turn, and replaces whatever is spent for Him, for He is the best of providers.
- Ayah 40On the Day He gathers everyone, Allah will ask the angels whether these people worshipped them, so that the honoured ones can disown it aloud.
- Ayah 41The angels refuse the worship given them, declare Allah far above it, choose Him alone as their ally, and name who was really being obeyed.
- Ayah 42On that Day no one holds benefit or harm for anyone else, and those who misplaced their worship meet the Fire they called a fiction.
- Ayah 43Clear ayat were recited, and three verdicts came back at once: a man with a motive, a forged lie, an obvious spell.
- Ayah 44Those who called the Quran a forgery had no book of their own to stand on and no earlier warner; their certainty rested on nothing.
- Ayah 45Nations far stronger than Makkah denied their messengers, and the ayah simply asks how His response to them turned out.
- Ayah 46The Prophet ﷺ asks one thing only: rise sincerely for Allah, in pairs or alone, then think honestly about the companion you have always known.
- Ayah 47The Prophet ﷺ asks no fee; whatever he asked comes back to you, his wage rests with Allah, and Allah witnesses everything.
- Ayah 48Allah hurls the truth with force, to His prophets, against falsehood and into hearts, and He knows every hidden place where it lands.
- Ayah 49The truth has arrived, and falsehood has no first move and no second: it can neither begin anything nor bring anything back.
- Ayah 50My straying is mine and harms me; my guidance is His gift by revelation; and He hears every word, and is near.
- Ayah 51When terror comes there is no gap left to slip through; they are taken from close by, for nothing was ever far from Him.
- Ayah 52On that Day they reach for the faith they could once have taken with an easy hand, but it now lies a whole world away.
- Ayah 53They denied it while it was near, and kept hurling guesses at the unseen from a distance where no throw could land.
- Ayah 54Doubters are barred from the faith they want too late, like their kind before; doubt left unattended becomes a wall.
