Al-Fath 48:4
“It is He who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith. And to Allāh belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, and ever is Allāh Knowing and Wise.”

Essence
At the bleakest hour of Hudaybiyyah, Allah lodged stillness in believers' hearts rather than sending an army, so their faith would grow.
A reflection
He owns every army, and He sent down quiet
Picture what the believers at Hudaybiyyah might have wanted from the sky. They were about fourteen hundred, far from home, stopped short of the House. A storm on the enemy would have done. A rank of angels would have done. The ayah names exactly that option, and then declines it.
To Allah belong the armies of the heavens and the earth. One commentary says a single angel sent against the enemy would have ended them. Instead He sent down something no one could see. Stillness, into hearts.
That choice humbles us twice. First, the decisive force at this turning point was not strength. It was quiet, placed by Him where no general can reach. Second, a short gloss turns the clause on the believers themselves. Had Allah wanted to give His religion victory through other people, He would have done it.
Sit with that if you carry a cause. Picture a founder answering emails at three in the morning, sure the company collapses if she sleeps. The ego loves to be the load-bearing wall. This ayah gently removes the wall and shows the roof still standing. You are invited into His work. You are not holding it up.
Does a God who owns every army need us to praise His might? The ayah answers in its grammar. The calm was sent down li-yazdādū, so that they would increase. The gain is theirs. He was not short of soldiers; they were short of stillness. Then it closes on two names. He is All-Knowing and All-Wise. He knew which hearts were shaking, and which gift would serve them best.
