Al-Qamar 54:22

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ

“And We have certainly made the Qur’ān easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?”

Essence

After a second nation falls, the offer is made again, word for word: the Quran is still saddled and ready; will anyone take heed?

A reflection

The offer, repeated

This line has its full treatment at 54:17: the Quran saddled and readied, made easy to recite, to memorise and to take to heart. Here it returns unchanged, after ʿĀd's story, as it came after Nuh's.

A classical theologian gives the repetition a simple purpose: it is repeated to fix it firmly. Another commentator says the line's return after each story signals that every story, on its own, is enough to warn.

What is different here is the listener's position. After the first story, the offer came once. Now a second nation has gone down, and the offer comes again, in exactly the same words, with exactly the same ease. It has not been withdrawn because the first warning was ignored. It has not been made harder.

That is how Allah's offer works in a human life. The door does not close after the first story that failed to move us. It is held open again: same Book, same ease, same question. Every time you come back to the Quran after a long gap, this ayah is waiting for you, unchanged.
