Al-Mursalat 77:11

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ

“And when the messengers' time has come...[1817]”

Saheeh International

Essence

Every messenger ever sent will be gathered to one fixed appointment, called to testify about the very people they were sent to reach.

A reflection

Not for His information, for everyone's record

Elsewhere the Quran states the same gathering directly: the Day Allah will gather the messengers (5:109). This ayah names the appointed moment itself, uqqitat, fixed to its time, when every prophet sent to every nation across the whole of history stands ready to report on what they delivered and how it was received.

A fair question follows at once: why would an all-knowing Judge need testimony at all? Surely nothing a messenger could say would inform Allah of anything He did not already know down to the smallest detail, before it happened and while it was happening. Isn't a trial, with witnesses called and evidence presented, something only an uncertain judge requires?

The testimony is not information for the Judge. It is the public record for everyone else, including the very people being judged. A court does not call witnesses only when a judge is personally unsure of the facts; a fair court calls them so that the accused, the accuser, and everyone watching can see the case made plainly, so that no one afterward can claim the verdict appeared from nowhere, arbitrary and unexplained. Allah, needing no information Himself, still arranges for each nation's own messenger to stand and speak, because justice is not only about the Judge reaching the right conclusion privately. It is about every party involved seeing, in full, exactly why the conclusion is what it is.

This matters for how you treat being told, repeatedly, across a lifetime, by many different reminders. The appointment this ayah describes is not a courtroom convenience. It is the guarantee that nothing you are judged on will ever be a mystery to you by the time the verdict is read.
