Ali 'Imran 3:39
“So the angels called him while he was standing in prayer in the chamber, "Indeed, Allāh gives you good tidings of John, confirming a word[123] from Allāh and [who will be] honorable, abstaining [from women], and a prophet from among the righteous."”

Essence
The answer came while Zakariyyā stood praying: a son named Yaḥyā, who would confirm a Word from Allah, lead with restraint and be a prophet.
A reflection
The answer came while he stood in prayer
A woman has waited three weeks for biopsy results. She prays the afternoon prayer with her phone face down on the edge of the mat. As she turns her head for the final greeting, the screen lights up.
'The angels called him while he was standing in prayer in the chamber'. A major early commentator dwells on the timing: the call came in the very state of his standing and praying. A classical commentator describes the miḥrāb as his place of worship, his private retreat and the seat of his intimate conversation with his Lord.
The lexicons picture the root of nādat, called, as a voice raised to carry across the camp. The answer did not arrive as a vague feeling. It was a call, clear and addressed to him.
Notice where Zakariyyā was when it came. Not pacing, not checking, not complaining. He had asked, and then he had gone back to the thing he always did: standing before his Lord.
Allah needs none of our prayer. He is free of all need (35:15). The prayer is for us. Many people today wait for life-changing news in a state of constant scanning: refreshing inboxes, rereading messages, rehearsing the worst. Waiting like that wears the soul thin.
The ayah offers another way to wait. Ask, then stand in prayer, and let the answer find you there. 'Truly, in the remembrance of Allah hearts find rest' (13:28). Whatever the news turns out to be, it will find you facing the right way.
The woman on the mat did not know what the message said yet. But she noticed, later, that she had been glad of where it found her.
