Ali 'Imran آل عمران
Madani · 200 ayat · 200 with pondering
- Ayah 1Three letters no scholar can unlock open a surah that will one day plead for whoever kept it company.
- Ayah 2Everything you lean on stands because something holds it up; only One stands by Himself and holds up everything else.
- Ayah 3The Quran came down like a guest who stayed, piece by piece, and it shook hands with the books that came before it.
- Ayah 4Guidance first, then a line drawn through the dark, then a warning: and the One who gives it is out of every hand's reach.
- Ayah 5There is One who has the unedited footage of your life, and no request of yours is ever lost in His queue.
- Ayah 6Your face, your height, your mind were settled in the dark before you had a name, by the Wise One who shapes as He wills.
- Ayah 7Read what is unclear by what is clear, and notice that the heart decides how a verse is read before the eyes ever reach it.
- Ayah 8The people firmest in knowledge do not trust their own steadiness; they ask the Giver not to let their hearts swerve.
- Ayah 9Everyone will be gathered on one Day, and the believers ask for steadiness now because they know Allah keeps His appointments.
- Ayah 10Money and children are the two things people most trust to protect them, and before Allah neither can stand in for anything at all.
- Ayah 11Every way of life is a road walked by choice, and its end walks close behind it, at the heel.
- Ayah 12Everyone is spreading the bed they will lie in; the ayah tells the proud, plainly and in time, which bed they are making.
- Ayah 13A small band met an army three times its size; the sign is not only who won, but who decides what eyes see.
- Ayah 14Everything we chase is real and lovely and climbing towards its noon; the ayah asks only where we will be when the sun declines.
- Ayah 15The Quran does not silence desire; it offers something better, and the best of it is His approval.
- Ayah 16The people promised Paradise introduce themselves with one credential, their faith, and one request: forgive us.
- Ayah 17The people of Paradise hold their souls steady, stay true, stand still in prayer, give quietly and rise before dawn for forgiveness.
- Ayah 18Allah bears witness to His oneness, calls the angels and the people of knowledge beside Him, and invites you to add your name.
- Ayah 19The way Allah accepts is handing yourself over to Him; people rarely split from ignorance, but from rivalry after they knew.
- Ayah 20When argument goes in circles, say where your face is turned, convey the message fully, and leave hearts to the One who sees them.
- Ayah 21The ayah places ordinary people who call for fairness beside the prophets, and warns everyone who silences either.
- Ayah 22Deeds can look full and be rotting from within, like a camel gorged on spring grass; and those who silenced the helpers end with none.
- Ayah 23Some people want the Book as a referee only when they expect to win, and turn their shoulder the moment its verdict goes against them.
- Ayah 24The most dangerous lie is the guarantee you invented for yourself: 'it will only be a few days', and then you believe it.
- Ayah 25On that certain Day every soul is paid in full for what it carried home; nothing shaved off, nothing added on.
- Ayah 26Every crown, title and corner office is on loan from the Owner of all sovereignty, and all the good is in His hand.
- Ayah 27The One who slips the night into the day a minute at a time, and draws life out of a dry seed, provides without counting.
- Ayah 28Kindness can reach everyone, but do not hand your deepest allegiance to those at war with your own; fear Him above any power.
- Ayah 29What you keep in your chest and what you show are equally open to the One who knows everything and can do anything.
- Ayah 30Every deed will be waiting on that Day; the One who warns you of it now does so because He is gentle.
- Ayah 31Love of Allah is proven by following His Messenger, and its reward is greater than the love itself: being loved by Him.
- Ayah 32Obey Allah and the Messenger, because he is the one sent; whoever turns his back on that has turned away from the love just offered.
- Ayah 33Allah chose Adam, Nūḥ, the family of Ibrāhīm and the family of ʿImrān above the people of their times, drawing them off like clear water.
- Ayah 34The chosen were one line, each from the other in faith and in birth, and Allah heard and knew every word and secret along it.
- Ayah 35Before her child was born, a mother gave it wholly to Allah, freed from every other claim, and asked only that He accept it.
- Ayah 36She hoped for a son and was given a daughter; Allah knew better what she had borne, and she placed her in His refuge.
- Ayah 37Allah accepted the girl, grew her like a good plant, placed her with Zakariyyā, and fed her from His own hand, without reckoning.
- Ayah 38Seeing Allah's out-of-season gifts to Maryam, an old, childless prophet asked right there for a good child from Allah's own presence.
- Ayah 39The answer came while Zakariyyā stood praying: a son named Yaḥyā, who would confirm a Word from Allah, lead with restraint and be a prophet.
- Ayah 40An old man with a barren wife asked how he could have a son; the answer: such is Allah, He does what He wills.
- Ayah 41Zakariyyā's sign was three days unable to speak to people except by gesture, while his tongue stayed free to remember and glorify his Lord.
- Ayah 42Angels told Maryam that Allah had chosen her, purified her, and chosen her again above the women of the worlds.
- Ayah 43Having told Maryam of her honour, the angels told her what to do with it: stand before her Lord, prostrate and bow.
- Ayah 44This story is news of the unseen, revealed to a Prophet who was not there when the scholars cast their pens for Maryam.
- Ayah 45Angels gave Maryam glad tidings of a Word from Allah: ʿĪsā son of Maryam, the Messiah, honoured in both worlds and brought near.
- Ayah 46ʿĪsā would speak to people from the cradle and in his prime, and be one of the righteous.
- Ayah 47Maryam asked how she could have a child untouched by any man; the answer: Allah creates what He wills, saying only 'Be', and it is.
- Ayah 48Allah would teach ʿĪsā writing and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel: a prophet educated, step by step, by his Lord.
- Ayah 49ʿĪsā came with signs from his Lord: a clay bird that flew, the sick healed, the dead raised, each by Allah's permission.
- Ayah 50ʿĪsā came confirming the Torah, easing some of what had been forbidden, and calling his people to be mindful of Allah.
- Ayah 51ʿĪsā's own creed: Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him; this is the straight path.
- Ayah 52Sensing rejection, ʿĪsā asked who would stand with him for Allah; his disciples answered: we believe, so witness that we submit.
- Ayah 53The disciples turned from ʿĪsā to their Lord: we believed what You revealed and followed the messenger, so write us among the witnesses.
- Ayah 54They plotted against ʿĪsā, and Allah planned against their plot; and Allah is the best of planners.
- Ayah 55Allah told ʿĪsā He would take him and raise him to Himself, free him from his rejecters, and judge between all who differ about him.
- Ayah 56Allah's judgement on those who rejected the truth about ʿĪsā: a severe punishment in this world and the next, with no one to help them.
- Ayah 57Those who believed and did good will be paid in full, nothing missing; and Allah does not love the wrongdoers.
- Ayah 58This account of ʿĪsā and his family is what Allah recites to His Prophet: signs, and a wise reminder.
- Ayah 59ʿĪsā's creation is like Adam's, from dust and the word 'Be'; a fatherless birth points to the Creator, not to divinity.
- Ayah 60The account of ʿĪsā just given is the truth from your Lord, so do not settle among those who keep doubting it.
- Ayah 61When argument is exhausted, the Prophet stakes his dearest people on a joint plea for Allah's curse on whoever is lying.
- Ayah 62This is the true account of Jesus: there is no god but Allah, and only He is the Mighty who is never overcome, the Wise.
- Ayah 63If they turn away after the truth is plain, the outcome rests with Allah, who fully knows those who spoil what is sound.
- Ayah 64Invite the People of the Book to level ground, worshipping Allah alone with no human as lord; if they decline, calmly say who you are.
- Ayah 65Reason should stop anyone claiming Ibrāhīm for a label that arose with the Torah and the Gospel, long after him.
- Ayah 66Arguing about what you know is one thing; arguing about what you never knew is folly, for Allah knows and you do not.
- Ayah 67Ibrāhīm belonged to no later faction; he leaned wholly towards Allah, submitted to Him, and never joined anything to Him.
- Ayah 68The people nearest to Ibrāhīm are those who follow his way, this Prophet and the believers, and Allah Himself is the believers' protector.
- Ayah 69Some long to lead believers astray, yet every such effort loses only the one who makes it, and they cannot even feel it happening.
- Ayah 70Why deny Allah's signs when you yourselves have seen them and, in private, admit they are true?
- Ayah 71Truth can be hidden two ways, by dressing it in falsehood or by keeping it silent, and both are done knowingly.
- Ayah 72A faction planned to profess belief in the morning and renounce it by evening, so that believers would doubt and turn back.
- Ayah 73Some tried to keep guidance and favour inside their own circle, but guidance is Allah's, and His bounty is in His hand alone.
- Ayah 74Allah singles out for His mercy whom He wills, and His bounty is immense, beyond any measure of ours.
- Ayah 75Some return a fortune entrusted to them, others not even a coin unless watched, because they claimed honesty owed nothing to outsiders.
- Ayah 76Yes, they are to blame; whoever keeps his pledge in full and is mindful of Allah is loved by Him, whoever he is.
- Ayah 77Those who trade Allah's covenant and their own oaths for a little gain lose their share hereafter, unaddressed, unregarded and unpurified by Him.
- Ayah 78Some twist their tongues as they recite so that their own words sound like scripture, and knowingly claim it comes from Allah.
- Ayah 79No prophet would tell people to serve him instead of Allah; he would say, become people of the Lord through teaching and study.
- Ayah 80No prophet would command you to take angels or prophets as lords; would he order disbelief after you have submitted to Allah?
- Ayah 81Allah bound every prophet by covenant to believe in and support a later messenger confirming them, and witnessed the pledge Himself.
- Ayah 82Whoever turns away after so solemn and witnessed a covenant has stepped right outside the casing that held him.
- Ayah 83Why seek any way but Allah's, when everything in the heavens and earth has submitted to Him, willingly or not, and all return to Him?
- Ayah 84Say: we believe in Allah and in everything He revealed to every prophet, rejecting none of them, and to Him we submit.
- Ayah 85Whoever seeks a way of life other than submission to Allah will not have it accepted, and will be among the losers in the Hereafter.
- Ayah 86Allah does not guide those who reject faith after believing and witnessing clear proof, for as long as they persist in misplacing everything.
- Ayah 87The recompense of those who knowingly turn from faith is distance from Allah's mercy, confirmed by the angels and by people, every one of them.
- Ayah 88They remain in it with no lightening of the punishment and no reprieve, because the time for excuses and delays will have passed.
- Ayah 89After every warning comes one word, 'except': those who turn back and repair what they spoiled find Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
- Ayah 90Those who reject faith after believing and keep sinking deeper in rejection will not have their repentance accepted; they are the truly lost.
- Ayah 91For those who die still rejecting faith, an earth's weight of gold offered as ransom buys nothing: painful punishment, and not one helper.
- Ayah 92You will never reach true goodness until you spend from what you love; and whatever you spend, Allah knows it exactly.
- Ayah 93All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Jacob forbade himself before the Torah came; so bring the Torah and read it.
- Ayah 94Whoever invents a lie about Allah after the proof has been laid out: those are the ones doing the wrong.
- Ayah 95Say: Allah has spoken the truth; so follow the way of Ibrahim, who leaned wholly towards Allah and gave Him no partner.
- Ayah 96The first House ever set down for all people is the one at Bakka: blessed, and a guidance for every world.
- Ayah 97In it are clear signs; whoever enters is safe; and pilgrimage is a duty owed to Allah, who needs nothing from anyone.
- Ayah 98Say: People of the Scripture, why do you cover over Allah's signs, when Allah is Witness to everything you do?
- Ayah 99Say: why do you turn believers away from Allah's road, trying to bend it, when you know better, and Allah misses nothing you do?
- Ayah 100Believers: if you take the counsel of one faction of the people given the Scripture, they will hand you back to disbelief after your faith.
- Ayah 101How could you disbelieve, with Allah's signs recited to you and His Messenger among you, when whoever takes hold of Allah is already guided?
- Ayah 102Believers: guard yourselves before Allah as is truly His due, and do not come to die in any state but submission to Him.
- Ayah 103Hold the rope of Allah together and do not come apart: He joined hearts that were at war and pulled you back from the rim.
- Ayah 104Let there be among you a standing group calling to good, urging what hearts recognise and forbidding what they recoil from.
- Ayah 105Do not be like those who broke into parties and differed after the proofs had already made the matter plain to them.
- Ayah 106A Day when faces turn bright and faces turn dark, and the dark are asked whether they rejected faith after holding it.
- Ayah 107As for those whose faces turn bright, they are inside the mercy of Allah, and there they stay without end.
- Ayah 108These are Allah's signs, recited to you in truth, and Allah wills no injustice to any of the worlds.
- Ayah 109Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth belongs to Allah, and every matter goes back to Him.
- Ayah 110You are the best community brought out for people: you urge what is recognised, forbid what is repugnant, and believe in Allah.
- Ayah 111They will do you no real damage beyond some hurt, and if they fight you they will turn their backs, then go unhelped.
- Ayah 112Lowness was stamped on them wherever they were caught, except by a rope from Allah and a rope from people.
- Ayah 113They are not all alike: among the People of the Book is a standing community, reciting Allah's signs through the night and prostrating.
- Ayah 114They believe in Allah and the Last Day, urge what is recognised, forbid what is repugnant, and race each other into good things.
- Ayah 115Whatever good they do will never be buried unpaid, and Allah knows exactly who is guarding himself.
- Ayah 116For those who cover the truth, neither wealth nor children will stand in for them before Allah.
- Ayah 117What they spend in this life is like a freezing wind on a crop, and Allah wronged nobody.
- Ayah 118Believers: do not take as your lining those who will spare you no ruin, for their chests hide more than their mouths let out.
- Ayah 119You love them and they do not love you; say, die in your rage, for Allah knows what chests contain.
- Ayah 120Good touching you grieves them and harm striking you delights them; be patient and guard yourselves, and their scheming cannot touch you.
- Ayah 121Remember the morning you went out from your family and settled the believers into their places for battle.
- Ayah 122When two groups among you were close to losing heart, Allah was their protector; so let the believers rely on Him.
- Ayah 123Allah gave you victory at Badr while you were low and few, so guard yourselves before Him and be grateful.
- Ayah 124You said to the believers: will it not be enough for you that your Lord reinforces you with three thousand angels sent down?
- Ayah 125If you are patient and guard yourselves, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand marked angels.
- Ayah 126Allah made that only as good news and to settle your hearts, for help comes from none but Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.
- Ayah 127The help given at Badr had named purposes: to cut away an edge of the deniers, or send them home humbled, with their hope snapped.
- Ayah 128At the worst hour of his life the Messenger is told that the verdict on his enemies was never his to pass.
- Ayah 129Everything in the heavens and the earth is His; He forgives and punishes as He wills, and the sentence closes on mercy.
- Ayah 130Believers are told not to eat the increase that doubles and doubles again, and to guard themselves, so that something may last.
- Ayah 131Put something between yourselves and the Fire that has already been made ready for those who reject Him.
- Ayah 132Obey Allah and the Messenger, so that mercy may be shown to you: the warning of the Fire is answered at once with a promise.
- Ayah 133Race for a covering of your sins from your Lord, and for a Garden whose breadth alone is the heavens and the earth.
- Ayah 134Three marks of those the Garden was prepared for: they spend in ease and hardship, hold their rage in, and let people off.
- Ayah 135And those who, having done something foul, remember Allah and ask Him to cover it, and do not knot themselves into it again.
- Ayah 136Their payment is being covered by their Lord, and gardens with rivers running beneath them, and the wage itself is what the verse praises.
- Ayah 137Courses have already run before you, so walk the earth and look at how it ended for the ones who called it a lie.
- Ayah 138This is a making-plain for everyone, and a road and a heart-softening word for those who guard themselves.
- Ayah 139After a day that went against them they are told not to slacken and not to grieve, because the height is theirs on one condition.
- Ayah 140The other side took a wound like yours, and these days are turned about among people, to show up the believers and take witnesses.
- Ayah 141And so that Allah may burn the dross off those who believe, and wear the deniers away to nothing.
- Ayah 142Did you reckon on entering the Garden while no striving had yet come from you, and no steadfastness.
- Ayah 143You had been wishing for death before you ever met it, and now you have seen it, with your own eyes, looking straight at it.
- Ayah 144Muhammad is only a messenger, and messengers have gone before him; if he dies, whoever turns back harms nobody but himself.
- Ayah 145No soul dies except by Allah's leave, at a written term; whoever wants this world's return gets some, and whoever wants the next gets that.
- Ayah 146How many a prophet had many ribbiyyun with him who did not go slack at what befell them, nor weaken, nor submit.
- Ayah 147All they said was: our Lord, forgive us our sins and our waste, make our feet firm, and help us against the denying people.
- Ayah 148So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the goodness of the reward of the Hereafter, and Allah loves those who do well.
- Ayah 149Believers: if you obey those who deny, they will turn you back on your heels, and you will end up the losers.
- Ayah 150No: Allah is the One nearest to you and in charge of you, and He is the best of helpers.
- Ayah 151Fear will be poured into the hearts of those who set partners beside Allah, for something He sent down no authority to support.
- Ayah 152Allah kept His promise as you cut them down by His leave; then nerve drained, the order was broken, and He pardoned you.
- Ayah 153You went away fast without turning your head while the Messenger called from behind; distress upon distress was given so you would not grieve.
- Ayah 154After the distress He sent sleep down as security on some, while others, consumed with themselves, thought of Allah as ignorance thinks.
- Ayah 155Those who turned back were made to slip by Satan, on a foothold their own record had given him, and Allah has already pardoned them.
- Ayah 156Do not be like those who said of their dead that staying home would have saved them, when Allah alone gives life and takes it.
- Ayah 157If you are killed in His way or simply die, forgiveness from Allah and mercy are worth more than everything the others are piling up.
- Ayah 158Whether you die or are killed, the gathering is to Allah, and nobody has ever been left out of it.
- Ayah 159It was mercy from Allah that made you gentle; pardon them, seek forgiveness for them, consult them, and once resolved, rely on Him.
- Ayah 160If Allah helps you there is nobody who can overcome you; if He leaves you to yourselves, there is nobody else at all.
- Ayah 161No prophet would take what was not his; whoever does will arrive carrying it, and every soul is paid in full.
- Ayah 162Can the one who follows what pleases Allah be the same as the one who comes home carrying His anger?
- Ayah 163They are degrees with Allah, and Allah sees through and through what they do.
- Ayah 164Allah did a great favour to the believers when He raised among them a Messenger from themselves, to recite, to purify and to teach.
- Ayah 165When a blow struck you, having dealt twice as much, you asked where it came from: say, from yourselves.
- Ayah 166What struck you on the day the two hosts met was by Allah's permission, and so that He would make the believers known.
- Ayah 167Asked to fight or at least defend, they said they saw no battle coming, speaking what was not in their hearts.
- Ayah 168They sat back and said of their brothers: had they obeyed us they would not have been killed; say, then push death away from yourselves.
- Ayah 169Do not reckon those killed in Allah's way as dead: they are alive with their Lord, and they are being provided for.
- Ayah 170Rejoicing in what Allah gave them of His bounty, glad for those behind who have not yet caught up with them.
- Ayah 171They receive glad news of a blessing from Allah and bounty, and that Allah does not let the believers' wage go to waste.
- Ayah 172Those who answered Allah and the Messenger after the wound had struck them: for the ones who did good and feared Him, a great reward.
- Ayah 173Told the people had gathered against them, their faith increased, and they said: Allah is enough for us, the best to be entrusted.
- Ayah 174They came back with a blessing from Allah and bounty, untouched by harm, having followed His pleasure; and His bounty is great.
- Ayah 175Fear is Satan's loudest weapon and his only one: name the source, then move your whole dread onto the One who guarantees you.
- Ayah 176Those racing away from faith take nothing from Allah; the only thing they damage is their own share, and your grief cannot be their rescue.
- Ayah 177Faith was not lost here, it was spent: traded away for something smaller, by people too unsteady to threaten anyone but themselves.
- Ayah 178A long easy run is no verdict in anyone's favour: the rope was let out, not cut, and more time can mean further behind.
- Ayah 179He will not hand you the unseen, and He will not leave you mixed up together either: hard days sort what words never could.
- Ayah 180What you clamp shut becomes a collar: all you hold back was a surplus you were lent, and it reverts to its Owner.
- Ayah 181A sentence said to win an argument was heard, written down and placed in the same column as the killing of prophets.
- Ayah 182Nothing is added to your account: what arrives was sent ahead by your own hands, and He never misplaces a thing.
- Ayah 183They named the proof that would convince them; it had already been delivered once, and they had killed the man who brought it.
- Ayah 184Being called a liar is no evidence against you: better men brought clearer proof and were called liars by people holding it.
- Ayah 185Nothing here is your wage: this life is a sip, hired kit and a fair outside, and winning is being shoved clear.
- Ayah 186The promised trial is in what you already hold and in what you will hear, and holding steady with mindfulness is the resolute road.
- Ayah 187A pledge was taken from those who knew: explain it, bury nothing — and burying it was never a lie, only a small, comfortable purchase.
- Ayah 188Two pleasures are named here: delight in what you did, and hunger for credit for what you never did — and neither buys safety.
- Ayah 189Everything in the heavens and the earth is held by Him, and His power reaches each thing in exactly its own measure.
- Ayah 190The heavens, the earth and the turning of night into day are not scenery but signs, addressed to anyone still using their mind.
- Ayah 191This is the act itself: remembering in every posture a body can hold, pondering what was made, then speaking back.
- Ayah 192The wisest name the worst outcome aloud, and what they dread is not the heat but exposure, with nobody to call.
- Ayah 193We heard a call and answered it: now cover what we have done, and let our last breath be in the company of the good.
- Ayah 194Give us what You promised, and do not let us be exposed that Day: You never fail an appointment.
- Ayah 195Their Lord answered: no worker's work is wasted, man or woman, and the reward carries only His name.
- Ayah 196Do not let the sight of them moving freely about the land take you in; the ayah is about your eyes, not their luck.
- Ayah 197A brief enjoyment, then the place they come home to is the Fire, and wretched is the bed they smoothed for themselves.
- Ayah 198Gardens to stay in, described not as wages but as the hospitality a host sets out for an arriving guest.
- Ayah 199Among the People of the Book are those who believed, stayed low before Allah, and never sold His signs; their wage is with their Lord.
- Ayah 200The surah ends with four orders and a hope: hold on, out-hold them, stay tied to your post, and keep Allah in view.
