Qaf 50:6
“Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and [how] it has no rifts?”

Essence
The proof they called far away was hanging over their heads all along: a sky built, lit with lamps, and without a single crack.
A reflection
No snagging list for the sky
A couple collect the keys to their new-build flat. Before moving in, they pay a surveyor to walk every room with a torch. He sends back a twelve-page snagging list. Hairline cracks above two doorframes. A gap where the skirting meets the floor. A window that never quite closes. The sign outside still promises 'luxury living, built to last'.
Now read the ayah. A-fa-lam yanẓurū ilā al-samāʾi fawqahum: have they not looked at the sky above them? Kayfa banaynāhā wa-zayyannāhā: how We built it and adorned it. Wa-mā lahā min furūj: and it has no rifts. The commentators gloss the last word as cracks, splits and gaps. Another surah makes the same challenge openly. Look again, and again; your sight will come back to you tired, having found no flaw (67:3-4).
Here the ego meets its proper size. We put our names on buildings that crack within a year. We frame our certificates and post our promotions. The sky has no plaque, no ribbon and no launch party. It has simply hung there, seamless, over every generation that boasted beneath it.
Someone may ask whether it is vain for God to point at His own work and invite admiration. Vanity is a creature claiming a perfection it lacks, to win something it wants. Neither part fits here. The sky really has no rifts, and He gains nothing from our looking. Allah is the Free of all need, the Praiseworthy (35:15). The pointing is for our sake. The ayah answers people who had just called resurrection 'a far return' (50:3). The surveyor's torch was handed to them, not held up for Him.
Then there is the small word fawqahum, above them. The proof was never hidden in a library or a temple. It was over their heads every time they stepped out of their doors. Arrogance spends its life looking down at people. Humility often begins on the day you look up.
