Makki · 45 ayat · 45 with pondering
- Ayah 1A single letter no one can fully explain, then an oath by a Quran called majīd: glory so full it overflows into whoever holds it.
- Ayah 2They called a warner from among their own people 'a strange thing', a verdict that said more about those who gave it than about him.
- Ayah 3They met a warning about accountability with a question about dust, and called the return 'far': a word that measured their imagination, not His power.
- Ayah 4The earth takes from the dead grain by grain, and every grain is known; with Allah is a Book that keeps whatever the earth takes.
- Ayah 5Refusing the truth on arrival, they could settle on no story about it: their affair turned like a ring on a wasted finger.
- Ayah 6The proof they called far away was hanging over their heads all along: a sky built, lit with lamps, and without a single crack.
- Ayah 7The earth of 15:19 almost word for word, ending here in delight rather than measure for listeners who had lost hope of return.
- Ayah 8The sky and the earth were made to open eyes and jog memories, but only the one who keeps turning back to Allah reads them.
- Ayah 9Every orchard and every sack of grain begins with water He sends down, water that carries more good than its amount can explain.
- Ayah 10The palms He grows rise tall and straight, fruit packed in layers: the highest thing in the oasis is a tree that feeds.
- Ayah 11The rain that feeds every servant also wakes a dead land, and the list of wonders ends plainly: so will the coming out be.
- Ayah 12Long before Makkah doubted the return, Nūḥ's people, the Well's people and Thamūd had called it a lie; only their names remain.
- Ayah 13ʿĀd, Pharaoh and the brothers of Lūṭ join the roll: strength, rule and appetite each found its own way to say no.
- Ayah 14The roll ends with the Thicket and Tubbaʿ's people; each denied on its own account, and the warning Allah sent ahead came true.
- Ayah 15The first creation did not exhaust Him, nor will the second; the problem is not His power but the fog they wear.
- Ayah 16The One who made you hears what your own self whispers to you, and He is nearer than the vein that carries your life.
- Ayah 17Two recorders sit with every person, one at each side, taking in what he sends out, while his Lord is nearer still.
- Ayah 18No word leaves your mouth without a watcher beside you, already in place and ready to take it down.
- Ayah 19Death's overwhelming daze arrives carrying the truth itself, and a voice names it: this is the very thing you spent your life swerving away from.
- Ayah 20One blast in the Horn, and every age of waiting is over: the Day that was promised as a warning has arrived.
- Ayah 21No one arrives on that Day in a crowd: each soul comes alone, with one who drives it and one who testifies.
- Ayah 22What you lived inside without noticing is uncovered in an instant, and an eye dull for a lifetime turns sharp as iron.
- Ayah 23The companion yoked to you all your life steps forward and says: here it is, everything I hold, ready, with nothing added and nothing missing.
- Ayah 24Spoken over the head of a lifelong arguer, the verdict falls on every persistent coverer of the truth and every knowing refuser.
- Ayah 25Three more marks of the condemned: a hand closed on all good, a foot over every limit, and a doubt that will not sit still.
- Ayah 26Beneath every other charge lies this one: he made another god beside Allah, and the command to throw him in comes again, heavier.
- Ayah 27The companion who whispered for a lifetime disowns the man before his Lord: I did not make him overflow; he had already wandered far.
- Ayah 28Before Him, the quarrel between a person and the companion who misled him is cut short, because the warning reached them long before that Day.
- Ayah 29Nothing said in His presence is altered, and He wrongs no servant at all: no one carries another's sin, and no good deed goes missing.
- Ayah 30Asked if it is full, Hell answers 'Is there more?', and we are told of it now so that none need fill it.
- Ayah 31On that Day the Garden is brought close to those who guarded themselves, so close that the ayah adds: not far at all.
- Ayah 32Paradise is described for the one who keeps coming home to Allah and keeps careful watch over His trust, not for the flawless.
- Ayah 33The people of Paradise held the Most Merciful in awe when no one could see, and arrived with hearts still turning back to Him.
- Ayah 34The welcome into Paradise comes with peace, and with the one promise no joy on earth can make: this time, it never ends.
- Ayah 35In Paradise every wish is met, and still Allah says He holds more: a gift beyond anything His servants knew how to ask for.
- Ayah 36Nations with a firmer grip than ours bored through the earth for a way out; one question hangs over every age: was there any escape?
- Ayah 37All the surah has said is a reminder, landing on anyone with a heart that turns things over, or an ear lent while truly present.
- Ayah 38He made the heavens, the earth and all between them in six days, and not the faintest touch of weariness reached Him.
- Ayah 39Bear what they say, and at the day's two edges, before sunrise and sunset, declare your Lord free of every flaw with His praise.
- Ayah 40Its twin at 52:49 sets praise where the stars turn their backs; this one sets it where each prayer turns to go.
- Ayah 41The Prophet ﷺ is told to listen now for the call that will wake every grave and reach each ear as if from close by.
- Ayah 42One blast, carrying the truth they argued with, reaches every ear at once; the Day it sounds is named for what it does.
- Ayah 43Life given and life taken come from one source, and every road, however winding, ends at the same address: to Us.
- Ayah 44The earth cracks open and lets them go, they hurry out, and the gathering of every human being is, for Him alone, easy.
- Ayah 45Allah knows every word said against His Messenger, who is sent not to force anyone but to remind, with the Quran, those who fear.
