Al-Furqan 25:1

تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ نَذِيرًا

“Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner -”

Essence

His good settles and stays, and its finest gift is a Book that parts truth from falsehood, carried by His servant to warn every world.

A reflection

Good that kneels and stays

Tabāraka comes from a picture the desert knew well. A camel reaches water, folds its front legs and kneels. It does not move on. The lexicons say baraka began there: something that settles into a place and stays. A pool where water collects and remains is called a birka for the same reason.

So the first word of this surah is not simply "blessed". One classical linguist judged "it endured and stayed" the soundest sense of all. Others heard "His good increased and multiplied". Others heard "He is exalted beyond everything". The three belong together. His good arrives, kneels in a place, and keeps growing there quietly.

The grammar adds a further note. This verb almost never has any subject but Allah. It has no present tense and no command form. Nobody is ever told to "be blessed" in this way. It is a word that has been kept for Him.

Now set that beside how we handle our own good. A man gives a generous sum to a charity. A week later he forwards their thank-you email to the family group, "just so you know it arrived". Nothing about the gift was wrong. But the ego wanted a witness, and could not let the good kneel quietly where it had landed.

His good does not need forwarding. It has been kneeling in your life for years, in a heart that beats while you sleep and a language you learned without effort. Most of it you have never noticed. None of it waited for your applause.

That is where pride begins to shrink. Our good needs to be seen to feel real. His is real whether it is seen or not, and it does not leave.

One commentator noticed what follows the word. Allah praises the abundance of His good, then names only one gift: the Book. Of all the good He could list, He chose guidance.
