Al-Jinn 72:19
وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا
“And that when the Servant [i.e., Prophet] of Allāh stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass."[1774]”

Essence
One servant stood to call on his Lord alone, and crowds pressed on him like felt: some drawn by wonder, some massing to stop him.
A reflection
Your obedient servant
A boy helps his grandfather clear out a bureau and finds a bundle of old official letters. Each one ends the same way: 'I am, Sir, your obedient servant.' He laughs. It sounds grovelling. His grandfather, a retired civil servant, does not laugh. 'It meant you knew who you worked for,' he says, 'and that you did the work properly'.
Most of us hear 'servant' that way too: a lowly title, a step down. So when this ayah calls the Prophet ﷺ ʿabd Allāh, the servant of Allah, we might expect a grander name. Messenger, Prophet, the chosen one.
The commentators noticed the choice and asked about it. Why 'servant', and not 'Messenger of Allah'? One answer: these words are spoken in the Prophet's own mouth, since he was told to say 'it has been revealed to me'. When a man speaks of himself before his Lord, humility fits. Another answer: it makes the hostility absurd. A servant worshipping his Master is the most natural thing in the world. Why would anyone crowd against him for it?
The Quran uses this title at his highest moments. 'Glory be to Him who took His servant by night' (17:1), on the Night Journey. 'Praise be to Allah, who sent down the Book upon His servant' (18:1). 'Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His servant' (25:1). At the summit, the name is ʿabd.
The root explains why. A road was called muʿabbad when many feet had trodden it smooth. It no longer resisted the traveller, and became a way for others. A cloth of the densest, strongest weave was also named from it. Servanthood here is not weakness. It is a self worn smooth for its Lord, and so made into a road for everyone else.
The grandfather was closer than the boy. The highest title a human being can hold is not 'master'. It is 'servant', when the Master is Allah.
