Ali 'Imran 3:191
“Who remember Allāh while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”

Essence
This is the act itself: remembering in every posture a body can hold, pondering what was made, then speaking back.
A reflection
Where thinking is supposed to end
One commentary works the whole argument through a single leaf. One vein runs down the middle. Veins branch off that, and finer veins off those, until they pass out of sight. A botanical illustrator at a light table knows the feeling. You trace the venation, lose the line, start again. One leaf, and you still never reach the bottom of it.
If a mind cannot exhaust a leaf, it will not encompass the heavens. And at precisely that point, the commentary says, the person says subhanaka. That is the sourced reason the word is sitting there. Pondering, done honestly, does not end in a conclusion. It ends in a confession.
Which is not how we think of thinking. Understanding is how you take possession of a thing. The one who understands most is the one standing highest in the room. Pride rarely has to announce itself. It simply never says the words I cannot. So watch what these people do with the furthest their minds will reach. They clear Allah of the small picture they have only just formed of Him.
There is a fair question in that. If He needs no praise, why are they shown praising Him? Because subhan is not flattery He was waiting for. The lexicons read tasbih as tanzih: putting at a distance, clearing away what is unworthy. Nothing is added to Him by it. Something is taken off the person instead. The quiet assumption goes, the one almost nobody notices holding. That the universe is, in principle, theirs to summarise.
