Ar-Rum 30:8
“Do they not contemplate within themselves?[1142] Allāh has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers.”

Essence
Look into yourself first, then up at the sky: nothing in either was made idle, and everything in both has a named day to end.
A reflection
Sold with its saddle and bridle
The ayah opens with a reproach and then makes a declaration. Allah did not create the heavens, the earth and all between them except bi-l-ḥaqq, with the truth.
A classical grammarian explained that small preposition with a picture from the market. You say: he bought the horse with its saddle and bridle. The horse never comes apart from them. In the same way, creation never comes apart from the truth. It arrives bound to it, as the horse arrives tacked and ready.
The root of ḥaqq carries its own picture. The lexicons describe a door pivot turning true in its socket, and cloth woven so tight it holds. Ḥaqq is what fits, holds and stays. Its opposite, bāṭil, is what empties out and vanishes.
Now set that beside the self. Galaxies, tides and seasons all turn true in their sockets. None of them asks to be noticed. And the human ego, a speck somewhere in mā baynahumā, 'what is between them', often lives as if it were the hinge everything turns on.
Pride says: my plans, my reputation, my timeline. The ayah answers with a wider frame. The whole sky was made with a purpose and a named end, and it chose neither. Neither did you. That is not an insult. It is relief. You were never asked to hold the universe together.
Someone may ask why Allah keeps pointing to His own works. Is that not a wish to be admired? But the One who made the sky gains nothing from your glance at it. A mountain guide who points at the summit is not asking you to praise his finger. He wants you to see where the path leads. Allah points because you need to look, not because He needs to be seen.
Look up tonight, and let the ego settle to its true size: small, held, and made for something real.
