Muhammad 47:19
“So know, [O Muḥammad], that there is no deity except Allāh and ask forgiveness for your sin[1501] and for the believing men and believing women. And Allāh knows of your movement and your resting place.”

A reflection
Every dot on the map is His
The ayah closes with a sentence that widens until it holds a whole life. "Allah knows your moving about, and your place of rest."
One classical commentator gives three readings, each larger than the last. Your movements in your livelihood and trade, and where you settle in your homes. Or your turning about in life, and your resting place in the grave. Or your turning about in your deeds, and your final abode. One concise commentary puts it plainly: what you do by day and where you settle by night. Nothing of it is hidden from Him.
The word for "moving about", mutaqallab, comes from the root of turning over. The lexicons use it of bread turned on the fire, and of a snake writhing on hot sand. Every turn of a restless life is in view.
Picture the control room of a city's bus network. One wall is a huge screen. Every bus is a small dot moving along its route, hundreds of them at once. Each driver is busy with his own passengers, his own traffic, his own day. Few of them think about the wall. But every stop, every delay and every detour is visible there.
That is a humbling thought for human pride. We work hard to manage how we are seen. We show our best side, explain our choices, edit our stories. Yet every movement and every rest is already known in full by Allah.
The same commentator draws the right conclusion. One who knows like this deserves to be held in awe, and to be asked for forgiveness and mercy. His knowledge is not a threat to be managed. It is the reason honesty with Him is the only sensible way to live.
