An-Nisa 4:14
“And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger and transgresses His limits - He will put him into the Fire to abide eternally therein, and he will have a humiliating punishment.”

Essence
Whoever pulls away from Allah's division and runs past His lines ends alone, made light by the One he thought he outweighed.
A reflection
Made light: the answer to a heavy ego
At a family lunch, an uncle with an economics degree smiles over the dessert plates. The Quranic shares, he says, were fine for nomads. On a paper napkin he sketches what he calls a fairer model. Everyone laughs a little, uneasily.
The ayah does not argue with the napkin. It names where that attitude leads, and it chooses its last word with care: muhīn, humiliating.
The root of that word is lightness. What is hayyin weighs little and costs little. A thing held cheap, a camel sold for almost nothing, is hawān. To humiliate someone is to make them light, of no account.
The commentaries explain why humiliation fits. Crossing these lines, they say, springs from not being content with what Allah divided and judged. It sets a person against Allah in His own ruling. The one who treated himself as weightier than the Lawgiver is answered by being made light.
Sahih Muslim records how the Prophet ﷺ defined arrogance: rejecting the truth and looking down on people. Both are present at that lunch. The division is waved away as outdated. And the people it protects, the widow and the small children, are quietly treated as mattering less.
This is where pride has to shrink. Most of us will never sketch a rival scheme on a napkin. Yet each of us has corners where we privately think we could have arranged things better than Allah did.
Does He need us to accept His division? He is free of all need, and no one can harm Him in the least (3:176). The Fire is not Him nursing an injury. It is the truth catching up with a self that inflated itself. The ayah warns while there is still time to let the air out.
