Al-Hajj الحج
Madani · 78 ayat · 78 with pondering
- Ayah 1Your Lord raises His voice before the ground moves, and the command comes with its reason: the Hour's quake is vast, so come close.
- Ayah 2On that Day a mother's hold on her feeding child, the strongest grip on earth, will open, and crowds will reel with nothing to drink.
- Ayah 3Right after the warning of the Hour, a man argues about Allah with nothing in his hands, and the ayah calls him a follower.
- Ayah 4It is written on every rebel devil: whoever takes him close, he will lose them first, then lead them all the way to the Blaze.
- Ayah 5Doubt the raising of the dead, and you are sent to your own beginning, your life's arc and bare ground after rain: all watched already.
- Ayah 6Births and greening fields happen because Allah alone is the Real, who keeps giving life to the dead and is able over everything.
- Ayah 7The argument that opened with doubt closes here: the Hour is already on its way, and Allah will raise everyone in the graves.
- Ayah 8Some people argue about Allah with no knowledge of their own, no guide who has walked the road, and no book that gives light.
- Ayah 9He turns his neck from the truth to lead others astray; disgraced in this world, he will taste the burning on the Last Day.
- Ayah 10The proud arguer is told to his face: this is what your own two hands sent ahead, and Allah never wrongs His servants.
- Ayah 11Some worship Allah from the edge: settled while life is good, gone at the first trial, and they lose both this world and the next.
- Ayah 12Having turned from Allah in a hard moment, he calls on what can neither harm nor help him: a straying that has gone very far.
- Ayah 13What he calls on instead of Allah harms him sooner than it helps: a wretched patron, and a wretched companion to live beside.
- Ayah 14Allah Himself admits believers who do good into gardens with rivers beneath; He does whatever He wills, and here He wills to give.
- Ayah 15Rage against the help Allah sends can never reach it; let the enraged man look at what his scheming has really choked.
- Ayah 16Allah sent the Quran down as clear signs anyone can read, yet the turning of a heart towards them remains His gift to give.
- Ayah 17Six communities are named in one breath, and the final word between them belongs to the One who witnessed everything.
- Ayah 18Sun, moon, stars, mountains, trees and animals all bow to Allah; among people alone the bow is a choice, and many make it.
- Ayah 19Two parties dispute about the one Lord of both; for those who denied Him, garments of fire are already cut and scalding water waits.
- Ayah 20The scalding water reaches the hidden inside and the visible skin alike: on that Day nothing about a person stays on the surface.
- Ayah 21After garments of fire and scalding water comes one more thing said to be theirs: rods of iron that beat back what will not yield.
- Ayah 22Every time anguish drives them towards a way out, they are returned into the depths and told: taste the punishment of burning.
- Ayah 23Against garments cut from fire, Allah Himself admits the believers into gardens of rivers, gold and pearl on their wrists, silk their clothing.
- Ayah 24The believers were guided to the good among words and to the path of the One who is praised, whether or not anyone praises Him.
- Ayah 25One House on earth was made level for the local and the stranger alike, and there even a heart's settled lean towards wrong is weighed.
- Ayah 26Before a single stone was laid, Ibrahim was given the site, one line he must never cross, and the people the House was really for.
- Ayah 27A lone man in an empty valley was told to call, and promised that crowds would come from every distant pass.
- Ayah 28Pilgrims come to be present for their own good, to speak His name over what He gave, and to share it with the poor.
- Ayah 29After the dust of the rites comes the washing, the keeping of promises, and a last circling of the House that no tyrant ever owned.
- Ayah 30Honour what Allah has made inviolable, enjoy the wide space He has made lawful, and keep well clear of two counterfeits: idols and false speech.
- Ayah 31Lean wholly towards Allah, for whoever adds partners falls like a man from the sky, torn by birds or blown into a distant pit.
- Ayah 32Whoever honours the signs Allah has set up shows a guardedness that lives in the heart, not merely in the hands or the face.
- Ayah 33The animals marked for the House serve you on the road until their named moment; then their journey rests at the Ancient House.
- Ayah 34Every believing people was given a rite for naming Allah over His provision; one God stands behind them all, so surrender, and gladden the humble.
- Ayah 35The humble carry four marks: a heart stirred at Allah's name, patience under what strikes, prayer set upright, and spending from His provision.
- Ayah 36Allah tamed the great camels as His symbols: name Him over them in their line, then eat, feed every kind of need, and give thanks.
- Ayah 37Nothing of the sacrifice reaches Allah but the mindfulness carried inside it; the animal was given so that He, not you, grows large.
- Ayah 38Allah keeps pushing harm away from those who believe, again and again, so they never need to win by betrayal.
- Ayah 39After years of being told to endure, the wronged are heard at last: they may defend themselves, and their Helper is able.
- Ayah 40Driven out for saying 'Our Lord is Allah', the believers learn that He holds back the destroyers of every house where His name is remembered.
- Ayah 41Those Allah settles in the land show it first in prayer, giving, spreading good and stopping harm, for every outcome returns to Him.
- Ayah 42If they call you a liar, you stand in old company: the people of Nuh, ʿĀd and Thamūd said the same before them.
- Ayah 43Even Ibrahim, the friend of Allah, and Lut, who believed in him, were turned away by the very people they lived among.
- Ayah 44Madyan and Musa's deniers were given a long rope, then taken hold of, and you are asked to see how complete His reversal was.
- Ayah 45Count them if you can: towns emptied while they did wrong, wells still full with no one at the rope, palaces gleaming white over nobody.
- Ayah 46The eyes that pass the ruins are usually healthy; what goes blind is the heart in the chest, the blindness that costs everything.
- Ayah 47They dared the Prophet to hurry the punishment; Allah's promise never fails, and His day is like a thousand of your years.
- Ayah 48Many a wrongdoing town was given time by Allah Himself, then taken in hand; and every road, after that, comes home to Him.
- Ayah 49People dared the punishment to come; the Prophet is told to answer only this: I am a clear warner to you.
- Ayah 50Those whose belief reached their deeds are promised two gifts in a fixed order: first their record covered, then a provision that honours them.
- Ayah 51Those who hurried to outrun and defeat Allah's signs end bound to the blazing Fire, in a company that never parts.
- Ayah 52Every prophet who recited or hoped met Satan's interference; each time Allah removed what was thrown in and set His signs firm.
- Ayah 53Whatever Satan casts, Allah turns into a fire that shows what each heart was made of: the sick heart wavers, the hard heart hardens further.
- Ayah 54The test that shook the sick and the hard lets people of knowledge see the truth, believe it, and settle low before it.
- Ayah 55Those who chose denial keep circling their doubt until the Hour arrives unannounced, or a day that has no tomorrow.
- Ayah 56On that Day every borrowed crown is handed back, Allah alone rules and judges, and those who believed and did good live inside His bliss.
- Ayah 57Those who cover the truth and deny Allah's signs meet a punishment shaped like their pride: disgrace for those who held the signs cheap.
- Ayah 58Whoever leaves home for Allah and then dies, by the sword or in bed, is promised good provision by the best of all providers.
- Ayah 59Allah will bring the emigrants into an entrance that truly satisfies them, for He knows every heart fully and still holds back from haste.
- Ayah 60Whoever answers a wrong in exact measure and is wronged again has Allah's sworn help, from the One who pardons and forgives.
- Ayah 61The help promised to the wronged is as sure as evening: the One who pushes night into day hears every word and sees every deed.
- Ayah 62The help for the wronged rests on the firmest ground there is: Allah alone is real, every rival is hollow, and He is above all.
- Ayah 63Rain comes down, the ground wakes up green, and the One behind it reaches every hidden seed and knows the despair of those who waited.
- Ayah 64The rain and the green it wakes are His, like everything else; He gains nothing from giving them, which is exactly why He deserves praise.
- Ayah 65Land, animals and ships are put at your service, and the sky above you is held moment by moment: tenderness towards people, even ungrateful ones.
- Ayah 66After rain, ships and a held sky, the last sign is you: given life, to die, to live again, and still slow to thank.
- Ayah 67Allah appointed every community's rites, so do not be drawn into quarrels over yours; keep inviting to your Lord, for you are rightly guided.
- Ayah 68When people keep arguing after the truth is clear, the answer is not a louder argument but one sentence: Allah knows best what you do.
- Ayah 69Every dispute about faith, yours included, goes to one Judge, who will settle it on the Day of Resurrection.
- Ayah 70Allah knows everything in the heaven and the earth; all of it is kept in a Book, and none of it costs Him effort.
- Ayah 71They worship what has no warrant from above and no knowledge behind it, and at the reckoning nothing they leaned on will stand with them.
- Ayah 72Clear verses were recited, faces darkened and hands almost flew; the reply was not a blow but calm news of something far worse.
- Ayah 73Every false god together could not make one fly, nor take back a speck it stole; so weigh what you call upon besides Allah.
- Ayah 74After the fly, the verdict: everything set beside Allah has an edge a fly can find, and He alone has none.
- Ayah 75Even the angels people worshipped are chosen messengers, sent; the One who chooses sees who fits and hears every word said about His choice.
- Ayah 76He chose His messengers with their whole story already in view, and every matter, from every hand, is on its way back to Him.
- Ayah 77Bow, prostrate, worship, do good: commands in widening circles, from the forehead on the floor to the whole day, with success hoped for as mercy.
- Ayah 78Strive for Allah with everything you have, on a road He made wide: He chose you, named you, and stands as your Protector and Helper.
